How We Help

Krishnaa Foundation is a collective run and supported by members of the Indian diaspora in New Jersey, attempting to support sex workers of Kalighat, Kolkata, and their children, in accessing their basic rights to healthcare and education.
Through food donation drives, Krishna Foundation is helping families overcome hunger and regain dignity. Your support can feed not just individuals, but entire communities. Together, let’s build a future where no one sleeps hungry.
Krishnaa Foundation implements a suite of comprehensive programs designed to ensure access to essential rights for sex workers and their children in Kalighat, Kolkata:
Health & Wellness Camps: Medical check-ups, telemedicine, maternal care, preventive healthcare.
Education Support: Coaching classes, school-related aid, educational resources for children.
Safe Spaces & Support: Permanent center for community, emotional support & learning.
Crisis Relief & Nutrition: Food drives, relief during epidemics, ensuring basic needs are met.
In response to a malaria and dengue outbreak, Krishnaa Foundation organized its very first medical camp. In collaboration with DocOnline, we provided tests, medicines, and consultations to those in need.
From late 2020 through mid-2022, Krishnaa Foundation provided about 250 sex-workers in Kalighat and their families a monthly supply of food rations and other necessities for basic health.
This was during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the sex-workers and their children were literally starving. At times when fuel was scarce, cooked food was also provided.
We are incorporated as a non-profit organization in New Jersey and are a tax-exempt public charity per section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. We are not a membership organization but welcome all volunteers who wish to work with us.
